Failed ADI Part 1: what happens next
If you fail ADI Part 1 you resit the whole test, not just the part you failed. You must wait at least 3 working days and pay the £81 test fee again.
Your result
- These rules apply in Great Britain. The ADI part 1 test works differently in Northern Ireland. [1]
- You get the result at the test centre after taking the test. You must pass both parts to pass the test. [1]
- If you fail, you get a letter at the test centre. It tells you which parts you did not score enough points on, so you know what to practise. [1]
- You fail the multiple-choice part if you score 85 or higher overall but do not score high enough in each of the 4 categories. [1]
Booking the resit
- You must book and take the full test again, including both parts. [1]
- To resit, you rebook your ADI Part 1 test and choose a date at least 3 working days after your last test. [1]
The resit fee
- The ADI Part 1 test costs £81 in Great Britain. [2]
- You have to pay the full amount again if you do not pass and want to take another test. [2]
- There are different fees for taking the ADI qualifying tests and registering in Northern Ireland. [2]
