ADI Part 1 results: what happens after the test
You get your ADI Part 1 result at the test centre after you take the test. What you are given next depends on whether you passed or failed.
Getting your result
- These rules apply in Great Britain. The ADI part 1 test works differently in Northern Ireland. [1]
- You get the result at the test centre after taking the test. You must pass both the multiple-choice and hazard perception parts to pass. [1]
- A pass needs at least 85 out of 100 overall and at least 20 out of 25 in each of the 4 question categories, plus at least 57 points out of 75 on hazard perception. [1]
- An overall score of 85 or higher is still a fail if you do not score high enough in each of the 4 categories. [1]
If you pass: the pass certificate letter
- You get a pass certificate letter if you pass. You need it when you book and take your ADI part 2 test. [1]
- Your pass certificate number lasts for 2 years. You must qualify as an ADI in that time, otherwise you will have to start the application process again. [1]
- Part 1 is the first of 3 tests you have to pass to qualify as an ADI. [1]
- In Great Britain, the ADI part 2 test costs £111. [2]
If you fail: the result letter
- You get a letter at the test centre. It tells you which parts you did not score enough points on, so you know what to practise. [1]
- You must book and take the full test again, and wait at least 3 working days before taking it. [1]
- You pay the full £81 ADI Part 1 fee again for the resit. [2]
